The app
This policy covers the AI Usage Tracker app for Mac and this website. Both are made by Let Your Nerd Be Heard ("we").
The app connects only to these places, and only for these reasons:
- Claude (Anthropic), to sign you in and to read your plan and usage limits.
- ChatGPT (OpenAI), to sign you in and to read your plan and Codex usage limits.
- The Claude and OpenAI status pages, to show whether either service reports a problem.
- This website, to check for updates and download them.
Those requests carry what each service needs: the sign-in Claude or OpenAI issued to you, and the app's name and version and your macOS version. What Anthropic and OpenAI do with requests to their services is covered by their own privacy policies.
The app has no analytics, crash reporting or telemetry, and it never sends your usage, sign-ins or settings to us. It never reads your conversations, prompts, files or code.
What stays on your Mac
- Sign-ins are stored in your login keychain.
- Settings, menu bar layout and usage history are stored in
~/Library/Application Support/AI Usage Tracker. History holds only percentages and reset times, and is kept for 90 days.
We don't receive a copy of any of it.
Claude Code features
These are off until you turn them on in Settings, and they only write files on your Mac:
- The status line adds a small script to your Claude Code folder and points Claude Code's
settings.jsonat it, after backing that file up. The script reads a file the app keeps up to date; it contains no sign-ins and makes no network requests. - Terminal launchers add commands to
~/.local/bin. - Auto-start runs your own
claudecommand at times you choose, which sends one short message to Anthropic under your Claude Code login.
This website
The website is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses, browser details and the pages requested) to run and protect the service; see Netlify's privacy policy.
The site itself uses no cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking, and loads nothing from other services. Its fonts are served from the site.
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply and to help you.
Payments
AI Usage Tracker is free and takes no payments today. Before a paid version is offered, this policy will name the payment provider and what it receives.
Your choices
- Sign out of an account in Settings → Accounts to remove its sign-in from your keychain and delete its history.
- Delete everything by uninstalling the app and its data folder; the guide has the steps.
- Ask us anything about your data at the address below.
Children
AI Usage Tracker is a tool for people who use paid AI services. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top, and note significant changes on this website.
